Rules for fair and safe use of LocalFileLab.

These terms apply to the provided LocalFileLab website. Self-hosted or modified versions may be subject to additional terms from their operator.

1. Service and scope

LocalFileLab provides browser-based conversion, compression, PDF and OCR tools, generally without requiring an account. By using the service, you accept the currently published terms.

2. Local processing

Files are not sent to a LocalFileLab conversion server for processing. Performance and availability therefore depend on your device, browser, operating system, memory and supported codecs.

3. Acceptable use

  • Only process files you are entitled to use and modify.
  • Do not use LocalFileLab for unlawful content, rights violations or circumvention of protection measures.
  • Do not overload the site, undermine security controls or distribute malware.
  • You are responsible for reviewing, backing up and lawfully sharing output files.

4. No guarantee for outputs

Formats can be inconsistent, damaged, encrypted or use unsupported codecs. Outputs may lose layout, metadata, color profiles, fonts, quality or functionality. Review every result before deleting an original or using it in production.

Keep important originals and backups.

5. Availability and changes

There is no entitlement to permanent availability, specific formats, file sizes or processing speed. Features may change for security, compatibility or maintenance reasons.

6. Source code, license and rights

LocalFileLab source is published under the PolyForm Noncommercial License 1.0.0. Private and other noncommercial use is permitted; commercial use requires separate written permission from the copyright holder. Bundled libraries and codecs retain their own licenses. LocalFileLab acquires no rights in your files.

7. Advertising and external services

The site may include Google AdSense ads and links to external services. Their providers are responsible for their content, privacy and availability. An ad or link is not an endorsement.

8. Liability

Liability for intent, gross negligence and injury to life, body or health follows applicable law. Liability for a slightly negligent breach of essential obligations is limited to typically foreseeable loss. Mandatory consumer and product-liability rights remain unaffected.

9. Governing law

German law applies where legally permitted. Consumers retain mandatory protection under the law of their habitual residence. If one clause is ineffective, the others remain effective.

10. Operator and contact

LocalFileLab is a source-available project by WiSie98. The operator of each deployment is responsible for that website. General technical and commercial-license requests can be submitted through GitHub; do not post confidential or personal file contents there.
